Lake Balboa is the newest community within CD 6. This beautiful neighborhood was previously part of Van Nuys and became its own community in 2007. It was named after Lake Balboa Park, which is considered a green gem in the heart of the Valley, with Balboa Lake at its center. As a result, Lake Balboa is a great place for anyone that enjoys being outdoors and staying active. Located within the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area, Lake Balboa park boasts biking paths, two golf courses, two sports centers, an archery park, wildlife reserve, and Japanese gardens. It is located by two major highways, the 405 and the 101, making commuting to other parts of the city rather simple. In 1998, Lake Balboa Park was renamed the “Anthony C. Beilenson Park,” in honor of the former Congressman for his long career of community and government service.Today, the neighborhood is predominantly a residential area with quite a few options of casual eateries!
